Copy Cat

I’m not the most stylish person in the world. My friends can vouch for that. As much as I love shopping for clothes, if you looked into my closet, the styles are more or less the same. I love my sleeveless tops and I love my summer dresses. So much so, it looks like I don’t have very much work clothes and I don’t.

Common, we live in a tropical country; how the hell are we suppose to wear a pair of long sleeve shirt with a jacket? Siao ar? I do wear them jackets and long sleeve shirts every now and then for formal gatherings or meetings but I for one do not like to sweat. My philosophy when it comes to perspiring is that I only sweat when I’m doing a workout or having sex.

I used to dress in a certain way, like for example, my shoes is normally the same color as my top. But nowadays, I’ve forgone that nerdy look and just go with the flow. I prefer my clothes to be cotton; it’s thin and it’s cooling to wear. If it rains or the weather gets cold, just add on a sweater. Viola, we’re done!

That’s besides the point I’m about to make.

Like I said I’m not the most stylish person around and yet I find some ‘people’ copying the way I dress. I only realize this about a week ago and once again when a colleague of mine mentioned it to me this morning. What is it about the way I dress that make this ’special someone’ wanting to copy whatever I’ve worn.

Perfect example today, I saw ‘her’ wearing a mini dress with a pair of tights. It’s something that I’ve worn too many times to the office. I wanted to laugh my ass off. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I didn’t like it and I am flattered that someone looks up to me and thinks I dress well. But if you were in my shoes, how would you feel? I’ll tell you how I feel, it feels like you’re looking at yourself. A mirror image of yourself, only in a different body. It kinda gives me the chills.

I’ve also seen ‘her’ wearing another clothing item which is so similar to what I’ve worn before that it sent chills to my spine. Believe me, it has not just happen onces or twice but a lot more times than this and I just feel weirded out. It’s fine if I was the only one who notices but my colleagues have too.

Apparently this has also lead to the way I decorate my office. -_-” My colleague tells me, she ‘decorates’ her so called ‘office’ (no she doesn’t have one) with photos and other cute little trinkets like I do. Hmm. 0_o No, I haven’t stepped into her ‘office’ yet (coz it’s in the next building) but I think I will now. Just to see it with my own eyes.

Wow, I never knew I was a ‘trend setter’.

Right, is anyone out there ready to confessed that (s)he’s a copy cat?

I ‘copy’ a lot of things off my best friend :) And sisters too :)) But I guess it so happens that we like the same things/style. Then again, I’m not ashamed to admit that we (my sisters and BF) still borrow things ie attires and accesories off each other. That’s the best thing about growing up in an all girls family :)

charlene: It’s fine if you like the same things, my friends and my cousins, we share the same taste. We tend to buy the same things too but we don’t ‘dress’ the same way. Probably I’m not used to having someone ‘copy’ my style, not that I have any. :) It kinda reminds me of another story (closely related) that someone ‘copied’ exactly the same way they decorated their house; and its not like one or two people notice but a WHOLE lot of people did. It’s fine if you ‘copied’ it off for an idea but you can’t be damn about copying exactly the same way or design. It really shows the lack of creativity. Just ranting. :D
