….not!

Okay, here’s something for you to swallow. Ermm…no, not in that kind of way.

My room smells heavenly, but it doesn’t quite look as heavenly as it’s suppose to be.

I had a long weekend last week, yes I took Friday off just to get away from work! I had this plan all lined up to de-junk my room, to make it more clutter free. Unfortunately, the extreme horrendous heat got to me and I ended up not doing a single thing except laundry. Now how’s that for procrastination?

I’ve got all this books on how to have a clutter free room, yet I’ve no idea where or how to begin. :( One thing’s for sure, I’ve way too many clothes and books. My books are ‘e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e’ in the house. My room, my brother’s room and sigh even my mum’s room. He told me that there’s never too many books, just no enough room for books. Heh. How true.

Not to mention my clothes! It’s over flowing my cupboard and mind you, I have a huge ass cupboard and it’s still not enough! I really gotta stop buying clothes.

So I’ve decided to categorize my clothes.

1. Clothes I wear daily (home, work, going out)
2. Clothes I wear for special occassions
3. Clothes I can’t possibly fit anymore but am keeping because I’m in this state of constant denial that I will lose the weight and wear it again.
4. Clothes that I come to realize I would never ever wear again.
5. Clothes that I would kill NOT to wear due to the lack of coverage.
6. Clothes that I will have to give away or sell, even if it kills me.

I was watching the Oprah show a few weeks ago and it was a pinch in the butt for me. It was about this woman and her husband who were extreme hoarders. They live in a 4,000 sq feet home but there wasn’t any room for them to move because they simply had too many (and I mean literally TOO MANY) things in their home. In that huge house of 11 rooms, there wasn’t any space AT ALL.

Being so fed up with their parents, their kids (who were all grown up and married) decided to take a video of their parent’s home and sent it to Oprah. This was the outcome. (don’t remember the exact figure but it was approximate about that number) Professional cleaners or whatever you call them cleared their home and found that they had:

1. About 75 tan worth of rubbish
2. The wife own approximate 16,000 BAGS!
3. A couple of thousand shoes!
4. A whole store of toys, photo frames, kitchen utensils, pots and pans.
5. Between 5-10 TVs!
6. The husband also kept 25 years worth of bank and credit card statements!
7. and a whole lot more…

In the end, they had to place all the items into a 10,000 sq feet warehouse! Imagine, it came from a 4,000 sq feet home.

Yikes! Double yikes!

They were living in extremely and dangerously unhealthy home. They even found BLACK fungus in the basement, which is considered hazardous to health. Eeeeks!

So yeah, that certainly taught me a lesson and I am very slowly picking up my things in my puny room.
