Blow Your Sox Off
October 27, 2007 | Category: Reflections & Musings
I was just updating my blog header when I thought, ‘hey, these are socks hanging on the clothes line! Duh!’. Yeah, see my new header? Nice?
We always talk about the things we love and I’ve never heard anyone who says they love socks or collect socks as a hobby. I’m not a big collector of socks but whenever I’m at the mall, I tend to drop by Soxworld. They have quite a good collection of socks for sale, not to mention winter wear accessories and men undies.
All my life I only know of one type of socks and now they have various types like crew sox, loose sox, knee high sox, cuff sox, toe sox, ankle and low cut sox. These are only for the ladies and I’ve not even gone into pantyhose yet! As usual, men have lesser choices.
When I was young mum use to buy cuff socks with lace around it and insisted I wore it. I used to cringe wearing them, with me being a little tomboyish at that time. It’s always in white and I’d wear them with everything from dresses to jeans.
During my teeny bopper years, the pom-pom like socks were very popular. There were colorful and it makes buying difficult at times. Sometimes myfriends and I would make a pact and use different color pom pom socks on each leg. Normally kids will wear these pom pom socks with sport shoes as most of the brands like Nike, Adidas or Reebok are the ones would produce them.
I don’t remember where I kept my pom pom socks, probably dissappeared from the face of this earth since my teens. I think it’s still being sold at the shops.
Nowadays, my favourite type of socks are the toe socks. It’s very trendy and it comes in so many designs.
In my cupboard right now I have a stripy colored one, polka dots and another one which I can’t remember what. Every other week, before I sleep I’d moisturize my feet and put on one of the toe sox. It helps to keep my feet moisturized while I’m asleep.
I don’t know if anyone does this but when we were kids we made sock puppets to amuse ourselves. Those were the days when we didn’t have many toys, so we had to be creative.
Boy, do I miss those days when I was younger. Nowadays, you can get anything off the shelves. Somehow I prefer to make it from scratch, it’s more fun; only when we have the time of course.
So yeah, socks. We don’t talk about socks a lot do we?
