Almost A Year Wiser

I was out with a couple of girlfriends last night for wine and as the night got hotter, conversations got mellow. One good friend was talking last night about how old we’re getting. How when in our hay days we drink alcohol like it was water and didn’t care who or what was mixed into our drinks. Or how we’d fuck (not everyone apparently) anyone who we find physically attracted to. Gone are those days when we’d leap without looking. At least I know not for me; alright maybe on occassions.

At this age we tend to savour or appreciate more of our surroundings. How we want our drinks mixed in a certain way so we can enjoy the taste not just because we want to get pissed drunk; or how we want our food cooked in a special way because we like in such a way. On how we treat the people around us, we rather tend to be more forgiving and less scrupulous. C’est la vie as they call it.

I got to thinking, maybe we’re behaving this way not because we’re getting older; it’s because we have seen enough shit and been through challenges that life has to offer. In one simple word, we’re wiser. Perhaps there are times when we behave like 5 year olds. Who doesn’t? It only takes a bigger person to admit (s)he’s very childlike.

I’m not quite sure what I’m trying to say here but one thing’s for sure, I’m supposedly to be a year wiser in exactly 7 days. I’m quite unsure about the wiser part as life has never stopped throwing loads full of shit at me. Whatever it is, I’m prepared and ready for anything that comes my way because I have people who care and love me for who I am.

Now come on…call me and ask me what I want for my birthday this year. *wink*

    haha Dee, ill be turning wiser ahead of you in 5 days… :) anyway let me be the first to say happy birthday in advanced to a co-sagittarian … well like you said C’est la vie (thats life)… for me its better to learn from our past coz our pasts always determine our futures when learned from.
