Croc Power

Have you ever sworn that if you saw something ugly you will never ever buy it but eventually went ahead and bought it?
I have and I did.
In fact, this ‘thing’ I’m about to tell you about was featured in the CLEO Malaysia magazine a year ago. For the life of me, I can’t remember which issue and the first thing I thought was ‘Euw, that’s an ugly little thing’ when I saw it.
Let me give you a hint. Crikey!
You guessed it right…it’s the ever ugly shoes called Crocs. About a month ago Kenny blogged about it. Yes, of all people I have one. I admit when I first saw it in the magazine, I thought it was the ugliest shoes I’ve even seen but really, once your feet gets into it…it’s pure heaven. Its’ popularity has hit every corner of the business world, including Fortune magazine,
here,
“The first thing I said was, ‘Man, are those ugly,’” recalls Hanson. But then he put them on. “It’s like walking on Nerf Balls,” he says.
Asked if he’d prefer a woman in an evening gown to wear Manolos or Crocs, Hanson says, “If I’m brutally honest, I’d put her in the Blahniks.” Then he pauses. “But have you seen the pictures of Faith Hill in Crocs? Man, does she look good.”
and here,
The chunky shoes, which cost about $30 a pair, are made with a proprietary resin which softens as it warms, and molds to the wearer’s foot - making them surprisingly comfortable.
The shoes, which were originally intended for boating because of their slip-resistant soles, have ventilation holes near the toes and are odor resistant, another big plus.
If one browsers the Crocs website, you’d find other designs that are more appealing to any fasionista’s taste. Alright, maybe they aren’t all that pretty afterall but honestly, I’d pick comfortability to fashion anytime. It’s airy. It’s likght. Once used, it molds to ones feet.
There’s even imitation ones for sale now so beware of fakes. So if you happen to pass by a rack full of Crocs, make sure you check the price and orginality because you really don’t want to end up having a pair of shoes name Cracs.

on October 3rd, 2006Che-Cheh: I bought mine at the Curve (small stall in front of Vincci) but I think you’ll be able to get it at any sports retail store. If you’re too lazy to search, try dropping by that stall I just mentioned.
I’m not sure if you can wear it for running, but according to the article they use it for trekking, why don’t you check out their website, they have loads more other designs. As for the price, it’s a standard price at RM129 for all designs.
realitybites: Don’t know if they have it in Penang, the other place I know that sell Crocs is Kuching airport, hehe a little far to get one. It cost RM129 each.
JoMel & PJ: Haha, aiyoo I must convert you both to Croc lovers. Trust me, when I first picked up and try the shoe my friend was like ‘Euw! That’s a f***ing ugly shoe!’. But once she tried it on, she was in love. hahahah.
