When Cookies & Pork Knuckles Aren’t Matchmake in Heaven

It’s now 12noon on Chinese New Year Eve and I have approximately 15 minutes to blog because by 12.15pm the oven in the kitchen will go ‘TING!’ to tell me that the cookies are done.

I woke up this morning to the smell of mum’s cooking in the kitchen. Amazingly, the smell of pork knuckles and what not lingered into my bedroom which is located right in front of the house. It’s the most wonderful smell in the world. Groggily, I looked at my clock which told me it was time to wake up as there are loads to do. I have pretty much a long day ahead.

I’m now only at my second task which is baking cookies, I’m almost done anyways. Mom is still cooking and there’s a pot of pork knuckles on the stove and I have cookies baking in the same kitchen. Let me tell you, the smell may be heavenly but I can sure bet the taste is not. Not that I’ve tasted cookies dipped in pork knuckles sauce. Eww.

My final task of the day is to bath my dog and make him look good. After all, this is going to be Year of the Dog. Dad hinted to me the other day, “You’ll have to treat Duke extra special this year, if not he won’t grant your wishes”. Ha! Yeah right, Dad. Some prediction.

I hope I won’t be too busy to blog this New Year, considering that most of you are or have gone back to your hometown and probably won’t be blogging for the next week. Hopefully, I can give you updates on the what’s happening here.

Ok, 5 minutes to go.

    I curi makan some from the claypot before serving but my mum caught me red handed (20 mins ago) oh well, i told my mum i needed to taste some to make sure it taste right *wink*
    Now now, we only get to see this dish cooked at home once a year!

    So Pork Knuckles!!! Let’s knock’em out!! yeaaaaaaah!

    I just came home from my reunion dinner, the specialty of the restaurant is deep fried spiced pork knuckles. Its totally wicked! What you only get to taste that at home once a year??? I get to eat that anytime I want to. I just had to open my mouth and ask for it. Hahaha… You are talking about the claypot pork knuckles with ginger and black vinegar right???

    Yep, thats right! the ginger and black vinegar style…
    Mum’s cooking for that particular dish is definately only
    once a year(still negotiable).

    The choice is mine, i can still search for it out there (only if im desperate) but nothing beats mum’s own cooking right?… ok, let’s have something more erotic than pork knuckles :P
